Morning weight: 158 lbs
Learning my lesson, I hid the Medifast maple brown sugar oatmeal at the far end of the cardboard box they came in, and grabbed something that I’m guessing would be tolerable--the Medifast Cappuccino.
And hmmmm...it was. I’m a coffee drinker, but I’ve actually decided to avoid coffee while on this diet b/c I can’t stand coffee without my cream and sugar. With the cappuccino, my senses are deceived into thinking I’m having a nice warm caffeinated beverage. What more can you ask for on a Tuesday morning? As for the chalky flavor, it was barely noticeable :)
My next Medifast meal of the day was the Brownies. Now I’m not a sweets person...both personality wise and food-wise. My weakness isn’t cake or cookies or even chocolates. So, I put a little bit more water than was required but the results were heavenly...well for a non sweets person, I guess. Now, I don’t know whether I would have called it heavenly had it not been for the utter failure of the tomato and oatmeal meals...but yes...I can eat the brownies and I would describe them as actually yummy.
I was feeling pretty upbeat about this diet by now, but I did notice a slight...lethargy in my step. James would claim he didn’t noticed the difference in me (he can be a PITA, yes) but I did. I felt like I was in a sort of fog during the day. Which is probably why I had decided to take my lean and green meal for lunch instead of dinner.
Lunch lean and green: I wanted a pizza (and I usually hate pizza) but had the Sunshine chicken salad from A Gracious Plenty instead. I skipped on the mandarin oranges and the dried cranberries, however. Am just not a fruit kinda gal.
Still, the fog in my brain remained. I can’t shake the feeling of dreaminess and out of world-liness. I felt dazed and was glad that I wasn’t operating any heavy machinery...besides my car, that is. Okay, that might be bad...I’m Asian and I’m a woman. It’s already a double whammy when it comes to my driving skills...this added hazy feeling is not gonna work.
Still, it wasn’t bad. I haven’t felt any caffeine withdrawal yet. I know we’re allowed approx. 300 mgs of caffeine...but I’ve been pretty good about not having my normal three to four cups a day. Heh. Look at me talking like it’s been such a feat already. It’s only the second day!!
There is that delicate matter of wanting to pee a lot. So, I’ve been drinking more water, as per the diet. But, I think these foods must have a really low salt content because I feel like water is just running through me. I did notice peeing more yesterday, but today is just riduculous. People are gonna think I’m prego--and NO, not just because of my muffin top.
On more upbeat note, I can say that the Medifast nacho chilli cheese puffs were downright tasty and Medifast cream of chicken was decent. I’m still getting a weird pizza craving, but I stalwartly ignored it as I looked through my choices of meals. I was apprehensive when I first took the packet out to prepare. Flashbacks of the tomato soup keep interfering with my normal functions. But in the end, I actually (dare I say it?) LIKED the cream of chicken and I will probably order again. Take it with a grain of salt, however, as this “like” is coming from a person whose idea of a great tasting chicken soup comes in the form of Ramen noodles. Ahhh...the college years.
My last medifast meal of the day was the Mango Cranberry cold drink. In the end, it was just meh. Tolerable? Yes. Did I taste any mango or cranberry? Not really :( Still has the chalky after taste? Yes. Had to down it like there’s no tomorrow? Yes.
